April, 2007 A new round of estimates of absolute poverty for the developing world over 1981-2004 is now available in PovcalNet. These estimates have been published in the World Development Indicators (WDI) 2007 as well as in the background paper "Absolute Poverty Measures for the Developing World, 1981-2004" by Chen and Ravallion (available from this site).

May, 2006 In response to user requests, we have added a number of new features to PovcalNet. Naturally new survey data become available to us more or less continuously. We shall now be including these data in regular updates to PovcalNet.

We have also added some new functions to PovcalNet, including new poverty and inequality indices and the decile distributions of income or consumption.
