Variable Selection Page
Index Tutorial Glossary

The survey questions are grouped into Sections. To view the list of variables in each section, select a section name in the drop-down Variable By Section box. The relevant variable names will be listed in the Variables for Selection box.

Note that variables are only shown if they have non-missing value(s) at least in one of the surveys selected in the Survey Selection Page. For example, the BEEPS II surveys do not include the questions on actual wait and a gift/payment to obtain certain services. Therefore, the variables c240a1 through c240c6 will not be displayed in the Variables for Selection box if only the BEEPS II surveys are selected. To check the data availability, click on the following link to view the Data Availability (size 996k) table.

To display the variables that match a key word or a phrase, enter the key word or phrase in the Or Search with Phrase box and click on the "Go" button. The variables with names or labels matching the search word or phrase will be listed in the Variables for Selection box.

To choose variables in the Variables for Selection box, hold down the Ctrl-key and click on the variable names. To highlight consecutive listings, hold down the Shift-key and click on the first and the last variable of the desired list. To select variables for analysis, click on the button. The variables highlighted in the Variables for Selection box will appear in the Selected Variables box. To select all variables from the Variables for Selection box, click on the button. To remove variables from the Selected Variables box use the or buttons.

To view the questions corresponding to the variables as they appear in the questionnaire double-click on a variable name. The relevant section of the questionnaire will be displayed.

Use the button or the Analysis link to navigate to the Analysis Page or the Survey Selection link to return to the Survey Selection Page.
